Imiso — from the isiXhosa word for 'tomorrow' — was co-founded in 2005 by ceramic artists Andile Dyalvane and Zizipho Poswa, and grew from a small studio into one of Africa's most collected contemporary ceramics practices. Their one-of-a-kind vessels carry Xhosa heritage, ancestral storytelling and scarification-inspired surface marks.

The work shows everywhere from New York's Friedman Benda to the global design fairs, but the Old Biscuit Mill gallery and the Salt River studio stay open to anyone who walks in.
